Rescued

On a recent mission trip to the Dominican Republic I decided to go swimming one day during our lunch break. The sun was hot and the waves were crashing. The surf was very inviting. While wading out in the surf, I turned to invite Cindy to join me. At the same time a huge wave crashed right where I was standing and knocked me down. I tried to regain my foothold, but it was too late. I tumbled and fell and rolled while at the same time gasping for air. I could not regain my balance until finally the wave had carried me far enough on shore that I was on my hands and knees. After checking to make sure no one was looking and trying to act like I intended to “roll” onto shore gracefully, I thanked God for getting me back to solid ground. It is important to thank God for rescuing us. In Psalm 18:16-17 David says that God reached down from “on High” and “drew [him] out of many [turbulent] waters, He rescued me from my strong enemy ….for they were too mighty for me.” Oftentimes life catches us, off guard or even square in the face, and knocks us down and rolls us. As we regain our breath – our composure it is important to remember who it is that rescues us. It is God. Let’s give Him a shout of praise for today for saving us! Blessings
