Scales and Balances

Proverbs 11:1 speaks of the issue of using a “false balance”. The proverb even says that a false balance is an “abomination to the Lord”. I think of a false balance as being a scale that is not consistent. If I am selling something by weight then the scale is heavy, but if I am buying something by weight then it is light. I’m afraid that sometimes I am guilty of using a “false balance” or a sliding scale when I consider sinful actions. When I do something questionable then it is just human nature or circumstances but if I see someone else doing the same thing or something similar then it is obviously sinful. Today I am going to stay away from the false balances and just strive for God’s scale. Heck, it is too hard to remember which scale I’m using otherwise. Will you join me? Blessings
